IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

If you had a student attending Oran R-III Schools during the 2021-22 school year who qualified for free/reduced lunches, you should be receiving a P-EBT card in the amount of $391 with your child’s name on it from the state. The school is NOT in possession of these cards, but has submitted the proper documentation to the state.

Celebrating Oran R-3 Schools and Community

I am writing this letter to inform you of a SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENT your child was part of in the Oran R-III School District. Every year the state uses a scoring system called the Missouri School Improvement Plan (MSIP) to develop schools' Annual Performance Report (APR). This APR is the school district’s report card and is used to rank all 553 school districts in the state. Oran R-III was ranked 7th of 553 school districts, while also having the highest APR in the Southeast Region.

Oran R-III has had many athletic teams and clubs win championships at the district and state level. While we are proud of those achievements, it is only during this time can we celebrate EVERY single child in the Oran School District. All of our students contributed to this APR and as the Superintendent of Schools I could not be more proud of each and every one of them.

While test scores are important, they are not the determining factor of having a good school. Our parents, staff and community members have always worked diligently to prepare kids to be successful in life. Consequently, the school pride, commitment, and good ole fashioned work ethic in the Oran community has served our children well. I personally want to send a sincere thank you to the community, staff, and parents who tirelessly support our school.

We have one of the best schools in the state of Missouri and it is a team effort. This APR is bigger than any state championship we have ever had, because this allows us to celebrate our entire school family and that is a great thing. I hope you will take a moment to tell your child how proud of them we all are. I look forward to finishing the school year strong and continuing to develop tomorrow's future.

Sincerely,

Dr. Adam E. Friga

School Safety: Buzz In System

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As always, the safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance. Beginning Wednesday, January 25, 2023, the Oran R-3 School District will utilize a buzz-in system for entry into the elementary and high school buildings. The video and intercom buzz-in system is part of a locked-door system which will require visitors to push a button to “buzz” the office. Once the button is pressed, the visitor will wait for a member of the office staff to reply, face the intercom, and advise the staff member of their name and purpose of visit. Once approved, the office staff will unlock the door through a remote system. The visitor will then proceed to the respective building’s office. This system provides controlled access to our school buildings. Systems of this type have been proven to enhance the security and safety of our students and staff. If you have questions, please contact the appropriate building principal.

Online Registration (New)

Dear Oran R-III School District Families,

Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, Oran R-III Schools will utilize an online registration process through our new student records system, TeacherEase for all students (K-12). The online registration process will replace the prior paper/pencil registration.

Existing families should have received a welcome email from TeacherEase with instructions on how to set up their account. Once the account is created, parents or guardians will be directed to complete the registration process. If you do not receive a welcome email and/or have any issues with the online registration process, please contact Angie Smith at 573-262-3345 ext 2 or [email protected].

Families who are new to the district must bring two (2) documents that show the name and address of the parent or guardian as proof of residency in the Oran R-3 School District. At that time, we will email a new student registration link for the parent/guardian to complete. (Residency document options: rental contract, phone bill, utility bill, driver’s license, payroll check stub, W-4, Unemployment Compensation, deposit receipts).

We are excited to implement online registration and hope you find the process convenient and user-friendly. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

My Positive Post to The Oran Community

At Oran R-III we are intentional about not only finding the good in our children but letting them know about it as well. Something important I have learned in the education business is that you do not have good kids without good parents. For a positive postal we normally contact parents to inform them of their child's latest positive endeavor and to thank them as well. Last March we were all hit with a horrific new reality known as Covid. To say it has been hard on our community, school, and, most importantly, children would be an understatement. We have worked through virtual learning, a bond project, dreaded quarantines, mask mandates, serious health concerns, and many more challenges. Through all of this, the community and parents have simply been AWESOME to work with. The words patience, grace, compassion, and support are what come to mind when I reflect on this challenging and changing experience. We are not entirely out of the weeds with Covid, but I remain optimistic we will see better days and that is due, in large part, to the GREAT community and parents we have that make up this school district that is so very special to me. In closing, I simply want to say thank you. I understand we are not perfect as no one is, but as long as we continue to focus on doing what is best for our children it will be the right thing. Thank you all and have a Merry Christmas.

Sincerely,

Proud Superintendent
